Privacy & POPIA notice
How TNT Telecoms handles your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013.
Last updated: 2026-07-20
Who we are
TNT Telecoms CC, trading as TNT Telecoms, is the responsible party for the personal information described in this notice.
Information officer
POPIA requires us to appoint an information officer. Ours is Tom Percy, contactable at tom@tnttelecoms.com. Direct any question, complaint or request about your personal information to them.
What we collect, and why
We collect only what we need to respond to your enquiry and quote for work. When you submit the quote request form, that is:
- Your contact details — name, company (if given), email address, phone number and preferred contact method. We need these to reply to you.
- Site details — province, suburb, property type and number of sites. These determine whether we cover your area and what the job involves.
- Job details — the services you need, project type, timeline, any budget range you choose to share, and your message. These let us quote accurately rather than guessing.
We also record which page you submitted from and your browser’s user agent, to understand how enquiries reach us and to diagnose faults.
Your IP address
We do not store your IP address. We store a one-way cryptographic hash of it, which lets us block automated abuse of the form without holding the address itself. The hash cannot practically be reversed to identify you.
Consent
We ask you to tick a consent box before submitting the form, and we store the exact wording you agreed to alongside your enquiry. That record exists so both of us can be clear about what was agreed, and when.
You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting our information officer. Withdrawal does not affect processing that already happened lawfully, and it may mean we can no longer respond to an open enquiry.
How we use it
To respond to your enquiry, prepare and send a quote, arrange a site survey, and deliver and support any work you go on to instruct. We do not use your details for unrelated marketing, and we do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
Who we share it with
Nobody, other than where it is necessary to do the work — for example a manufacturer or supplier processing a warranty claim on equipment installed at your site, or a professional adviser or authority where the law requires it. Any such party is bound to use the information only for that purpose.
Where it is stored, and for how long
Enquiries are stored in a database on our own server rather than a third-party marketing platform. We keep enquiry records for 24 months from your last contact with us, after which they are deleted. Records relating to work we actually carried out are kept longer where tax, warranty or other law requires it.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Access to the enquiry database is restricted to those who need it to do their job. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects your personal information we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
Cookies
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies, and there is no third-party advertising network on it.
Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it.
- Have information corrected if it is wrong, or deleted if we no longer need it.
- Object to processing, and withdraw consent you previously gave.
- Complain to the Information Regulator if you believe we have handled your information unlawfully.
To exercise any of these, contact our information officer above. We will respond within the period POPIA allows.
The Information Regulator
Information Regulator (South Africa) — JD House, 27 Stiemens Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg, 2001. Complaints: complaints.IR@justice.gov.za. Enquiries: enquiries.IR@justice.gov.za.
Surveillance footage
Where we install CCTV for a client, that client is normally the responsible party for the footage their system records, and this notice does not cover it. We will advise on your obligations — signage, lawful purpose, controlled access and a defined retention period — but the duty to meet them sits with the system’s owner.
Changes to this notice
We will update this page if our practices change, and revise the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will tell you directly.
